Josef Ludvík František Ressel (1793–1857), born in Chrudim, was a forester, writer, engineer and inventor of Czech-German origin, who rose to fame for his invention of the propeller. Inspired by the inventor’s approach to life, STC attempted to grasp the idea of creating an unconventional commemorative banknote, which bears a number of innovative features with an emphasis on the use of eco-friendly materials. Today, STC issues its own Commemorative Banknote with Josef Ressel’s portrait on an innovative Green LongLifeTM ecological substrate made of 100% organic cotton, with a protective double-sided coating for greater durability. Offset ecological inks without mineral oils were used in its production. The Commemorative Banknote carries a number of new security features that offer greater protection and that can be found on genuine banknotes or documents of state importance.
