New Banknotes Put into Circulation
As part of the Czech National Bank assignment, the State Printing Works of Securities print innovative banknotes in the nominal values of CZK 100 and 200. Their release into circulation was launched at a press conference of the Czech National Bank (5 September 2018). Jiří Rusnok, Czech National Bank Governor, introduced the updated protective elements. In particular, they include a wider window strip with micro-text that changes colour depending on the viewing angle. In addition, the new banknotes contain an improved watermarks including one created though an electrotypical process, a new safety pigment in the inks, additional gravure colour with fluorescence, a horizontal serial number on every banknote that shines under UV light, and, last but not least, new anti-copy elements. The signature of Jiří Rusnok, Czech National Bank Governor, has also been added to the new banknotes. Older versions of the 100- and 200-crown banknotes are still valid. They shall be replaced gradually, in line with the established practices of the Czech National Bank.
